I think that this quote means if you want to choose the right you have to be with people who choose the right. If you don't choose the right then you will have to pay the consequences.
Ex1: When a friend asks you if you want drugs choose the right and say no.
Ex2: When choosing the wrong you would say yes to drugs instead which is wrong.
