Duties and responsibilities: A neurologist is a medical doctor or osteopath who has trained in the diagnosis and treatment of nervous system disorders, including diseases of the brain, spinal cord, nerves and muscles. Neurologists perform neurological examinations of the nerves of the head and neck; muscle strength and movement; balance, ambulation, and reflexes; and sensation, memory, speech, language, and other cognitive abilities.

Salary: $228,161 annual

Education: Similar to other physicians, neurologists must begin their careers by going to college and then attending medical school. As an undergraduate, aspiring doctors who major in a science, such as biology, chemistry or physics, will be better prepared for a medical school curriculum. Although most colleges do not have a pre-med major because medical schools do not require any specific major, some schools do offer a pre-med concentration that may include the biology, chemistry, physics and math courses required by medical schools.

Duties and responsibilities: An eastern medicine doctor is someone who specializes in alternative medicine and other practices that can vary from acupuncture to therapeutic massage and even herbalism. They use treatments not typically used by professionals or proven to show results.

Salary: $30,000-$70,000

Education: An eastern medicine doctor must attend college or a university or some accredited school that offers a degree or certificate. There are several certificate programs available in alternate medicine specialties, for examples, massage therapy or herbal medicine.

Duties and responsibilities: There are many jobs in the military medical field. These jobs include health care specialist, medical corps officer, medical specialist corps officer, nurse corps officer, operating room specialist, etc. The area in which they work in may vary with each job, but many work in medical training facilities or medical centers.

Education: In order to become a military doctor a bachelor’s degree is needed. A master’s degree is optional.

Oriental Medicine Doctor

Duties and responsibilities: Oriental medicine practitioners use forms of acupuncture and treatment through the Chinese concept of “qi” which means energy. Oriental medicine treats a variety of ailments including headaches, back pain, arthritis, or other illnesses by identifying patterns of imbalance within a body’s energy levels and working to readjust liquids or fuels.

Salary: $61,000

Education: Education and training requirements vary state for becoming oriental medicine practitioners. Most practitioners earn a bachelor’s degree in biology or another medical related field, then go on to fill state requirements.

Sports Medicine Doctor

Duties and responsibilities: Sports doctors are medical professionals whose specialty is the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of injuries from athletic activities. Sports medicine prepares these doctors for work either in a traditional hospital or clinic setting, or in sporting events at both the professional and college levels.

Education: In addition to working with athletic teams and in private physicians’ offices, sports medicine doctors sometimes work in fitness centers, hospitals and clinics. Some doctors further focus on specific groups such as geriatric populations or school-age children.

·               Remove calculus and plaque from teeth.

Educational Requirements:

Dental hygienists must have a high school diploma or GED certificate before participating in dental hygiene education programs. Dental hygienists usually earn an Associate’s degree at a community college or private school. To practice, they must also earn a license by passing the Dental Hygiene National Board examination. Some hygienists earn Bachelors or Masters Degrees if they want to teach, do research, or broaden their scope into public health issues.
